A few weeks ago I had that error code on my 2002 Civic Type-R cleared it and all was good. However my battery completely drained today and the code was back. Jump started the car and checked for charging. Battery voltage while running was 12.4v. I cleared the fault code p1298 and tried again, viola, the battery was charging at 14v.

This suggests the alternator is still good, right? Would simply replacing the ELD fix my problem? If so, whats the rough cost from a Honda dealer?
