Definitely^

The O-ring is a good guess. Also check for oil inside the distributor. If found, the internal distributor seal is bad.

Showing us something covered in quite literally YEARS of **** doesn't really help anyone. Clean it off. Pressure washing is easy. After you've cleaned it, it'll be a lot easier to pinpoint where the leak is coming from.

I'm no expert, but if I were to guess, I'd say it's leaking from the engine.

Is simple green that affective?

I've always had to resort to Super Clean:

"PURPLE POWER" De-Greaser... Can we buy it in Canada ?

It's not horrible. That's what I used to clean my block.

Purple power stains aluminum pretty badly. Simple green doesn't.

Use a pressure washer at a car wash if you don't have one. Use common sense when doing so.

We have super clean up here in Canada. Not exactly the same as Purple Power. Haven't seen it stain the aluminum blocks or heads yet.

The link has a picture of a jug of Super Clean that's why I shared it.

The Napa purple cleaner is even nastier from what I read.

Use wd-40 to clean that trans

Work 60 percent hundred percent of the time

Dead serious wd-40 breaks down grease really fast.

I buy it gallon jugs so it depends how much you dilute it.

I usually don't add that much water to it, works good on rims and tires too

we have the super clean stuff here as well but I have never used.

@OP a pressure washer at the car wash would be good for as dirty as that engine and trans are

avoid or cover the distributor and alternator when spraying
