Default Stroking or boring?

Which would be better? Stroking the motor to 2.0litr or borning to 2.0 litr....

Give pros and cons of both...
Im thinking stroking would effect rod ratio alot...

Thanx guys,
Jordo

I think if you stroke, you have more torque and a lil less rpm.
If you bore, keep the rpm and has more power. IMO.

...also, if you bore, you keep the same rods and need to buy pistons.
if you stroke, might keep the same pistons and buy crank and longer rods.
Whichever is in your budget.

ls crank.
ls rods
84.5 mm pistons

89mm x 84.5mm= 2.0L

damn worth it.

"Stroking" just sounds so much more exciting than "boring."

Stroke it

I was under the impression that if you sleeved a gsr block to 84 mm, it would be a ~2.0L

Is this not true unless you get an LS crank & rods?

compare ls crank to type r crank

I know type r crank is knifved edged and balanced. how is ls crank?

That would be interesting, getting ls crank edged and balanced and mirco polished.. and buying aftermarket ls rods

might be cost effishion also

I cant spell

84.5 X 84.5 X 87.2 X .7854 X 4 X .001 = 1956cc not stroked

84.5 X 84.5 X 89 X .7854 X 4 X .001 = 1996.43cc stroked

now for the 84mm thing

84 x 84 x 87.2 x .7854 x 4 x .001 = 1932.97cc two liters you be the judge...

i was thinking of doing the same thing also. I would love to have a 2 liter boosted motor. So it would take ls crank, rods, and 84.5 mm pistons then, with a resleeved block?

yess...

I really really really want someone to touch this topic..

If its possible to make a ls crank, just as good as a type r.. while keeping the displacement

type r cranks are not knife edged....they are counterweighted. you can balance an ls crank but u cannot counterweight it...

whast the difference counterweight and balance??

Im told R cranks hold power in mid range comparable to ls cranks... ive seen some dynos.. i think they were importbuilders..

Are you sure they are knived edge.. let me find that diagram that said that...

I'm not sure with imports, but with V8s, you can only bore out .060. I bored my 289 out that much, and its not much difference. I think around 10 cubic inches for me. However if I got a stroker kit, I could add around 90 cubic inches!!!

balancing is basically balancing... counterwieghts add material to the crank to achieve a better balance for higher reving motors.. knife edging is removing wieight from the crank for faster reving motors... i believe counterwiegted cranks (itr) hold more power on top while knife edge may make u lose power on top but it will make ur motor rev up faster...

in your total opinion

What do you think would be best?
to make a ls crank comparable to a type r crank...

If the motor will be boosted, im thinking knife edged wont help....

Are crower cranks worth a damn? and any other companys make cranks?
