Default 1992 1.5L EGR

Does this '92 Civic 1.5L have EGR and if so where is it? Under the intake manifold? Emissions test just barely passed due to High NOX 3.49 GPM on a limit of 3.5 GPM. A tech told me EGR needs to be cleaned so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Only has EGR if it's a VX model.

High NOx is usually an indication of low catalytic converter efficiency though.

Post the block and head codes on the engine.

The model of this Civic is an "LX" is that what you meant when you said "VX"?
As far as head block codes go, where are these located? I don't want to remove the valve cover but....thanks again for all your help in solving this matter.

No, the LX is nothing like the VX.

The LX should be the D15B7 non vtec 1.5L motor and would not have an EGR. This is assuming it's a stock LX.

Transplanting the VX motor and ECU and doing up the wiring and everything else into another trim level is pretty rare.

Usually swaps go the opposite way and go for more power so typically another series motor.

It's the original engine that came with the car, non- V-TEC so no EGR. Hmmmm, the Magnaflow Catalytic converter could be the culprit, not even 30K miles on it. HC and CO readings were well within the limits.

How do you misspell HC? It's two letters man!
