Icon6 95 Accord Trans Problem (Hidden Bolt)

at the end of last November my reverse went out and I just now decided to fix it but I seem to be stuck. I have all the bolts out except one. its on the back of the motor going into the trans but the position they put it in is ridiculous to get to. now I don't know if the bolt is stuck on there or I just cant get the proper leverage. I have separated the header and the exhaust and that really didn't seem to help. ive searched and searched and searched and I haven't really found much except someone saying to use a 17mm deep socket w/ a swivel. which I tried and it didn't work for me.

so I was wondering if anyone can shed some light and help me out? is there a certain way that I missed.

thanks ahead of time

and also it a 95 accord 2.2 lx 5spd

I am assuming this is on the back of the motor?

I missed that bolt when converting my Accord to a manual and took out a chunk of the automatic bellhousing.....oops

We removed the oil filter and then used a swivel socket with an air impact and it came right out. You also might try using a jack to lift up the tranny a tiny bit or putting a couple bolts back into the tranny. This may relieve some pressure and binding on that last bolt which is only going to make removing it harder.

yes it is. all the mount bolts are off so I thought I was clear but I guess I missed the one that the blocks hides right above the mount.

oh boy that is not good. good thing you were swapping the trans.

and that is one of the things that would be in my way.

this may help me thanks for the help

No problem. Good luck!

Once the oil filter is off and you have a good flashlight youll be able to get some good leverage on it. But like i said, i would put 2 or 3 easy to acces bolts back in and tighten them down. Itll make this bolt quite a bit easier to remove.

thanks.

so I took the oil filter off and surprisingly not very much oil spilled as I was expecting it to make a mess. and I had a 17mm deep w/swivel on a 1/2 driver, first I tried the rachet then I tried the impact and still nothing. ive lubed it with wd-40 and liquid wrench. that bad boy just wont budge. when I go back out ill add more bolts already have the top 2.

I don't know what to do, the car basically completely taken apart in the garage.

If it is the bolt I think it is, it is a *****.
I *think* the backside of the bolt threads are open and you can see the threaded portion, put kroil, pbblaster, etc there.
There will be one bolt that goes through an ear on the engine mount bracket but does NOT go to the transmission. IIRC there are four bolts but you can get away with only removing three and you should be able to leave the engine attached to the mount bracket/mount so you do not have to use a cradle/engine support to hold the engine up with the trans out.

I want to say there are six bolts in total.
Three go into the engine from the trans side, two on top and one down low on the radiator side.
And then three more that go into the transmission from the engine side around the differential housing down low on the firewall side.
And IIRC there is a 7th bolt that is the one I mentioned which goes through the engine/engine mount bracket but does not need to be removed for trasmission removal.

If you are very careful about not setting things on fire you could use a propane torch. You want to put the torch on there for 15min and get it warm...NOT HOT. Just slowly warm up the area where the bolt threads in. Like 19Accord97 said put in a few other bolts tightly so all of the weight is not on the stuck bolt.

Are you referring to the top transmission housing bolt in the picture?
On the drivers side, I used 2-3 1/2 impact long extensions and my cordless 1/2 impact with the oil filter removed.
Came out with no problem. This was on a auto 94 Accord.
