Default 2000 EM1 Ignition Issues

Long story short my SiR had a hiccup yesterday. Was pulling off the highway towards work when the CEL started flashing and the car lost most of it's power. I was close enough to work that I coasted it there and then shut it off. Car was struggling to idle and. Pulled the codes and it came up with a bunch of misfires (specifically P0301, P0302, P0304, P0300 and P1399. I'm pretty sure I've traced the problem back to the distributor, but I wanted to get a second opinion before I rushed out to buy one. Any thoughts?

Are the plugs fouled?
Compression good?

Test the coil and icm in the distributor

Or like most of the people here just swap parts around

Did you check for proper spark?

The car is getting proper spark. I pulled all the plugs and only cylinders 1,2 and 4 have carbon build up. At this point I'm thinking it's the distributor

The car is getting proper spark? Would that not ELIMINATE the
dizzy?

If you are implying one cylinder is the culprit, that could be something
as simple as 1) a plug wire or 2) the corresponding contact on the
dizzy cap.

This reply assumes no mechanical issues, eg, head gasket etc.

I should have said that the plugs were new as of 10,000km ago. Compression is good. Spark is not. Having a bit of an off day

Open up the distributor and inspect.

How old are the plugs and wires?

Plugs and wires were replaced virtually right before I bought the car (so they're around 5 months old) I pulled the cap off the distributor. Had a lot of built up crap in there. Cleaned it out and it started running marginally better. Will be replacing the dizzy as soon as I can

If the distributor was dirty and after cleaning it the engine runs smooth, then no need to replace the distributor.

It definitely doesn't run smooth. It's a tiny bit better than how it was running before I cleaned it out but it's still throwing the misfire codes
