Default f23A5 to F23A1 ECU question

My DX has the A5, I'm swapping in an A1. This is a commuter car, I have another swap project for fun. Need this one to pass emissions, blah blah..

If I pick up an ECU and matching Ignition with Key, with this be a simple swap? No CEL right and ready to pass emissions? I mean it will suck that I have a different key for door and ignition but so be it.

This one already ended, but it's what I'm looking for.

If I'm not mistaken you can have the ECU/Ignition Immobilizer reprogrammed for a few bucks. You can have the immobilizer/ECU programmed to accept the new key OR you can clone the new key to use the same encryption code as your existing key. Any locksmith that has a handheld immobilizer key programmer can do it.

Call around and see if the cost of reprogramming is worth your time!

You'd just need the immobilizer/ecu reprogrammed to your current key. Honda can do this for you.

It just so happens I have an automatic f23a1 ecu... and am looking for an a5 head. Shoot me a PM

I called this one guy that said that, and I quote "The ECU needs to be programmed to the car so the VIN #s match, you can do that at the dealer. Once that's done then I can program the key to the ECU" Something about the VIN in the ECU having to match the VIN on the car for emissions. Then he was going to charge me a $175 to do it if he came to me and $125 if I wen to him.

I'm going to build up the A5 for a turbo project . I picked up the A1 with trans for a steal (since mine is slipping).
I'm swapping out because A5 has leaking RMS and a bad bearing. So I can justify the swap and get a "free" project
motor out of it. Just need a shell. How much you want for the ECU.

Well that was one guy. And by the way he said it, I'd have to go to the dealer and then come to him. What a pain in the A$$ if it's true!
