94 Accord F22B1 Build Help
Hi, I'm new to this forum and was just trying to get some opinions on the car I just picked up. I'm sure you get a lot of threads like this but I was just looking for some help.
So my car is a 1994 Accord Ex 2dr with a f22b1 with a 5spd. I wanted to build a sleeper car but I've never worked with this engine series yet and I'm not sure what mods would be the best. I'm 17 and I pay for everything myself (insurance, the car, gas etc) so I have about 1k to work with. I just want to know what mods in that price range would be the best for the price, and if there are any good tunes for it. It also already has a 4-2-1 header, 2.5" piping back to a 3" tip and a cold air intake. Thanks

Don't take this the wrong way but you'd be better off spening that amount getting everything "up to speed".
Suspension, brakes, tube up, fluids, timing belt job if not sure when it was last done.

Turbo would be the best way to pull power out of the B1, and some form of ECU/piggypack to tune. Such as Hondata or the likes. Headers always crack, exhaust you want to be careful with as some mufflers are just loud and not performance orientated. Best to build your own system use the largest resonator in the mid pipe to quell drone, and a quality muffler with a conservative looking tip to keep the sleeper look and cops away. CAI work but they also are the reason for the loud BRAP of a fart pipe.
With a turbo the exhaust will stay fairly quite, don't use an obnoxious blow-off valve if you want to stay sleeper, have it recirculate.

F22B1 Vtec level 2 cam regrind $400.

The conservative gearing of the Accord trans will not readily allow the use of the cam until the car is up to speed. Would be best to couple the cam changes with a transmission change to match the power band of the cam.

For the money you should peice together a turbo system. Chrome can manage the system for free and people on here have been offering up maps for free. This is only a good idea on a healthy engine. That plus welding and fab work plus gunning should run you around your 1k budget.
Crome Free is only a good option for someone who actually knows how to tune and has all of the associated tuning hardware. it is not for the noob, specially not running boost on a basemap found online!
No matter what you do, modifying a car for reliable speed is going to cost you....
You have to pay to play!
Fast and Reliable = Not Cheap
Reliable and Cheap = Not Fast
Fast and Cheap = Not Reliable
This goes for N/A or Forced induction builds..... For that matter it goes for anything automotive related really, suspension, brakes, cooling, fuel....etc etc....!
