03 V6 Auto; external transmission filter, ready to change, will i lose fluid?
I already did a 3x drain/fill on my auto transmission fluid now that the car has 110k miles on it. I think it was the first time the fluid was changed since the drain bolt was covered in metal and the fluid was nasty. I did the drain/fill 2 weeks ago. I now have all the parts for the external filter, and I made sure to get every single o ring and gasket that's needed. However, before I take it apart, I'd like to know if I am going to lose a bunch of transmission fluid by doing this while the fluid is full. I probably should have done it while it was drained, but I didn't think of it at the time.
So, for those of you that have done it, is fluid going to go everywhere if I disconnect that external filter under the airbox?
Thanks

The filter is on top of the transmission, so you will not loose any more fluid with the transmission full or drained. The filter housing will hold a couple ounces, so a little will spill when you take the filter cover off, but not much.
Perfect, exactly what i needed to know, thanks so much!
