Default well I'm on the side of the road-

OK... Lately my 97 Accord 2.2 227,968 miles has been a real pain in the ***....

Week or so ago I had a fiasco that left me stranded in the twin cities, after a new disributor cap and rotor and plug wires, as well as a painful fuel filter ordeal, car was back in action.

Well now I'm on the side of the road, because my oil light was flickering at idle... Revving it up it would go away. Well drove a Lil further and then it came on and commenced to flash on and off..... Car runs great but rumor has it that my oil pump might be going out or the relay???? The car recently had the head off to repair to bent exhaust valves when we were changing the timing belt and water pump. So new head gasket on up. The car has had a small leak on the rear seal for years. Not interested in changing that seal out right now, I just keep the oil lvl in check. No codes have been thrown, and I have no clue what's causing this.

When I get this car hauled home, what is my first course of action? Thanks in advance for any advice you can share with me!!!

Has the oil level ever got excessively low ? What was the cause of the bent valves ? Have you compression tested ?

It is pretty common for the oil pressure sending units to go bad.

Id recommend replacing it with an OEM unit as I used aftermarket brands and they kept failing after a few days.

I would check this first as well, if you are suspect of pressure, beg/borrow/steal a mechanics oil pressure gauge and with the old oil switch out install the pressure gauge. Start the engine and watch oil pressure.

Oil pressure light is just an idiot light, it comes on below 6-7PSI, but if the oil switch itself is leaking there may be no pressure differential across the switch and it will fluctuate on/off.

Verify there is a pressure problem first.

yep, a failed switch will think there's low pressure when there isn't
