Icon3 weird electrical issue with civic hatch

93 civic, turbo lsv, etc.

i was going to install an oil pressure sensor on the back of the block last night, and i had a wrench touch the alternator wire. it sparked and then after i was done, i went to turn on the car....NO POWER....AT ALL.

so i checked all my fuses, #24 under the dash(good), the 80 under the hood(good) and every single freaking other fuse.

STILL NOTHING!

THEN, i go this morning to try and diagnose the car, i turn the key to the on position, wala theres power. i go to turn the key to crank, powers gone like a ghost.

THEN! i slam the door shut in frustration and the power reappears. turn it over, no power again. is there any one who can relate or help me on this one? im stumped, angry and frustrated to the point of jesus.

I had a similar problem, ended up being a bad ground wire

The 80 amp fuse, did you ohm it out? It may have blown in a way that allows it to reconnect. Try jumping it with a wire.

Unrelated to no power...make sure the stud on the alternator did not break, the last one i did that to snapped the stud in two

I've changed out the fuse as well as used a wire to jump the contact points where the fuse sat. Nothing.

Clean and tighten the battery connectors and battery ground connection on the chassis. Then go from there.

Fantastic advice. Similar thing happened to me once when I changed my starter, and then years later when I sparked the bat with a wrench. Both times: loose pos terminal connection but I was sure I had just fried my car.

now to figure out why the hell my oil pressure gauge only shows pressure when i step on the gas, and to find out why my turbo piping keeps popping off.

Measure the oil pressure.
