Ok so my plan is to get this rywire harness for obd0 to obd1 with the plug for an obd2 distributor

Rywire : OBD0 [mpfi] to OBD1 Conversion Package - $189.00

As well as a obd0/1 to obd2 alternator adapter

Rywire : OBD0 & OBD1 chassis to OBD2 Alternator Adapter - $35.00


I will also be eliminating the resistor box

Delete Plugs

and rewiring my injectors from the obd0 ones to the obd2 ones.

This will all be run on a chipped obd1 ecu base mapped for my 96 b18C-R
I plan to have the knock sensor and ELD functions disabled when the ecu is chipped

Im aware i could pay much less for this and splice/ wire this all myself, but id rather pay and just plug it all in and be done.

Am i missing anything wiring / sensor related to this swap?

 

Literally the EXACT stuff I am using other than obd1 accessories. Mine hasn't been started yet though (because my car is still in pieces) so I am thinking you got it all other than make sure the person who chips your ECU turns off the secondary o2 (don't remember if obd1 has 2 or not) and turn off the heater for the primary o2 so you can run your single wire o2 sensor and not have to change to 4 wire.

OBD1 doesn't have a secondary O2.
Do use a 4 wire heated O2. Single wire versions are old technology.

 

I couldn't remember I haven't modded these in forever. Is there actually a big difference between them? I assumed it was basically the same thing.

dont you just swap wires in the alternator, cuz they all use the same plug?(could be mistaken)
what about jumper harness for the ecu plug wires?

 

Just keep it all obd1, use your stock alternator (with slight mods) and use the obd2 dizzy and your good. As well as the factory obd2 injectors

 

Obd0 and obd1 use the same plug. Obd2 uses a smaller square plug

 

Depending on your ECU (I'm assuming P28?) you won't need to wire any other sensor minus VTEC solenoid and pressure switch, no knock sensor needed. Your stock harness will mostly plug and play. You'll have to wire your fan switch from the back of the block to the thermostat housing location. The MAP sensor on your new engine is on the throttle body and your car's is on the firewall, you can use either one.

You could also just reuse your injectors as they are the same flow rate and leave the resistor box in tact.

As far as 1 vs 4 wire 02, from my understanding it only has to do with emissions anyways not so much with old school vs new school technology and most people who tune eliminate it altogether.

Alternator wise you may be able to do this if both alternators are the same manufacturers

 

Deleting O2 can be done - no disagreement there.
However, you take away the ECU ability to do any fuel trim.
This isn't necessary on a track car, but on a street car, there are trim adjustments happening all the time especially when humidity changes.
If you are super set on deleting the O2, then an upgrade is using a wideband along with an EMS that supports management using wideband values.

As far as 1 wire and 4 wire, 4 wire has a built in heater circuit to bring it up to operating temp. The 1 wire uses exhaust gasses and exhaust manifold heat to bring them up to temp. Old DC ceramic headers were thin wall and ceramic coated so people would get O2 cel all the time because the 1 wire wasn't able to get up to temp. So if you are OBD1 and the ECU supports the heather circuit, why not use it? Keeps your O2 up to temp for better values to the ECU.

 

Thanks for all the Replies, I will be selling my old alternator with the motor so im just going to convert the plug with the adapter, and ill be running the 4 wire o2. It looks like the only thing i was missing was extending the temp sensor wires to reach the new location.
