Default cleaning intake filter??

How do I know when I need to clean my intake filter? Are there any signs that show it needs cleaning or replacement?I have an AEM intake with the filter that came with it and was just wondering when i should clean it. Thanks.

Moderator: I meant to post this under tech. Sorry.

Oh boy. Don't ever do what you just did! Never make a topic with those dashs (----).

Use the search, much easier than getting flamed.

Does the filter look dirty, has it been past 7,000 miles since cleaned. If then, clean it.

To clean it, put get a bucket of bleach and water. While the car is running, dip the filter in the bucket. The motor will suck the solution through the filter and clean it.

Oh come on, you can clearly see they are just testing the AEM water bypass valve
the only reason im even saying something is cause theres probabally somebody stupid enough to submerge there filter while the motor is on to try and fill it.

Take your filter off, clean it out with a hose, dry it, re- oil it, put it back on.

"...what should i do with a water filled engine? "

It would make a nice oversized paperweight

or a boat anchor

Good job

Geez, don't you know anything? You're supposed to use gasoline.
