98 civic - won't start
Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to read this.
So it's a 1998 honda civic, car has been randomly shutting off. I thought it was maybe the fuel pump relay, but i used a test light and tested the yellow wire, second over on the plug and it lights up..
i also pulled the backseat and tested the harness going to the fuel pump, and one of the pins on that also line up..
common sense tells me this is the fuel pump, but can fuel pumps just stop working all together, and did i test everything right?
ie: the relay might have a power stream, but its a switching kinda setup.. and the grounds didn't light up.
thanks.

When the engine won't restart:
1) Check whether the fuel pump primes and whether the plugs have spark.
2) Check whether the CEL remains on steady when the key is turned to ON(II). If so, pull the CEL codes and post them.

When the car doesn't start, the CEL doesn't come on at all, or does the CEL just never come on regardless of starting or not starting? It should come on for ~2 seconds when you turn the key to ON(II), then turn back off.

My apologizes, i assumed that it was turning over it would have spark for some reason, after further reading and going back from step one using a different guide i'm pulling the battery to have it tested..
I tested the fuel pump, not sure about whether its priming or not, but it does have a single 12v that's going to it.
Could a low/dying battery have enough juice to turn the car over 10+ times over 2 days, with 5 second bursts?
Thank guys, i'll look into testing the fuel pump for priming next

k, i had my ear close to the tank, just enough to reach the keys.. lol..
i should be able to hear the fuel pump right,
in the morning i'm gonna check to see if any fuel comes out when i crank it

When you sit in the car and have the key in the 2nd position you should be able to hear the pump prime, second technically if it cranks it turns the distributor so yeah it kinda can give the spark but the problem is if the distributor isn't getting power to give spark than its an issue.
** update **
so i had the wrong print out, the pgmfi had a blown fuse, i replaced the fuel pump anyways, and the main relay(300k on the car)
the car still won't turn over, next i'm going to check to see if maybe i snapped the timing belt? maybe test the injectors resistance after...
the fuel pump turns on and primes each time i move the car, its a noticeable 2 seconds...
any thoughts, thanks for the input.. sorry if i was confusing.
