Icon2 2000 accord-headlight short circuit?

i have a 2000 honda accord ex v6, my driver side headlight went out, so when i went in there and touched the socket the light turned back on.(i have hid's) so the following day the light just started to flicker and i thought it was the bulb. so i switched it with the other side and it works perfectly. so i put in a regular headlight bulb in and it started to turn on the high beams at the same time as the headlights. but the highball bulbs were receiving very little current. when i switch on the high beam, the lights turn off. when i disconnect the bulb from the low beam socket everything goes back to norma except the high beam on the driver side doesn't turn on. i just replaced its socket and it didn't change anything. what can it be?
