Default 1997 civic cx D16y7 to D16y8

I have a chance to buy a y8 engine from an auto car with 123,000 Km for $250 but the engine only comes with Intake manifold and exhaust manifold and Dizzy my question is .......

Can I use parts like the alternator from the y7
And would I be needing the ECU from the 1998 ACURA 1.6EL Automatic or keep my y7 ECU I have tried googling and searching on forums but I can not seem to find a definitive answer

Also can I use the stock d16y7 tranny with the D16y8

Find a 99-00 auto P2P if yours is auto. Yes you can use the y7 alternator. You must use the Y8 injectors with the P2P Ecu. Yes you can use Y7 trans as well. You'll have to wire up VTEC and knock.

Thanks HPH here are the details

the Y8 is coming out of an 1998 automatic Acura EL and being swapped into my 1997 Civic cx which is Manual Thinking it may be a wiser choice to just order a D16a (d16y7 clone non vtec) for now with plans to do a mini me swap soon after. as the D16a comes with engine and tranny for $649.99

You can't (easily) use that D16A transmission anyways. It is a cable transmission, and you need a hydraulic transmission.

Swapping that D16Y8 into your car is easy. Plus, you will have the coolest looking valve cover of any other D-series engine

I think you're referring to the D16A1, the D16A is basically a Y7 engine and has a hydraulic transmission.

Oh ****, I didn't read that carefully enough.

Normally when someone is referring to a D16A, they mean a D16A1...but I shouldn't assume. You're right
