D16Y7 To D16Y8 Swap
I have a 1997 Civic LX (I think its Canadian model) Which developed a rod knock so I think it would be cheaper to just upgrade to a D16Y8. The car is an auto.
Which should be around ~$500.
But I have a few questions. Would I need to change ECU for an auto? Also would it be worth it get a D16Y8 auto tranny at the same time? (what would be a reasonable price for it.) Also would I need a new distributor thought it is D series?
What should I look out for at the junkyard? Sensors on the motor? Should the engine come with certain things? How can I tell a good motor? Should I be buying new seals/hoses or anything along those lines to this new engine?
Not asking for a parts list but I think that it would be:
D16Y8 LONGBLOCK
D16Y8 INTAKE MANIFOLD
I would be able to use my D16Y7 harness with this (http://www.d-series.org/forums/diy-f...g-harness.html).
Thanks for all the help.

Re: D16Y7 To D16Y8 Swap
^both are a necessity. You'll need to wire in VTEC and knock. The IACV is already 3 wire. If you reuse your exhaust manifold you won't need to extend the second 02. For the engine check for leaks, compression test, anything that doesn't look right. Fo the tran make sure both have a warranty.
