How much horse power can my automatic transmission handle, 95 civic ex sedan
I know it can't handle much and I don't intend on keeping it automatic forever but for the time being I don't want to mess with it. I'm not adding any serious power for atleast another year but for now I was just thinking the simple I/H/E. Would the transmission be ok or to much.

The transmission will handle it just fine, mainly because those aren't going to actually add any power.
I thought it would be fine but I hear nothing but bad things about my automatic trans and that it barely holds up stock so I didn't know if the the extra ten hp from I/h/e would cause it to go out quicker or be rough on it.

How much power do you plan on gaining with your I/H/E setup? Enough to annoy your neighbors, surely.

I was thinking i would gain 10 hp maybe 13 If I am lucky, and I intend on putting a silencer on my muffler I hate the civics that role around sounding like dirt bikes. I'm not an idiot I don't think that I'll be fast with I/h/e its just temporary. In an estimated year my income will double and I will be able to afford an auto to manual swap and fi, or b series swap I'm not sure wich yet. I'm hesitant to do a swap because my motor is well maintained and only has 52,000 on it.
If you want to do a swap later on, then save your money for a swap.. why waste it on bolt ons that wont do anything.

:agree :
Intake, header, AND exhaust? Gee, I don't know if it can handle THAT much horsepower. A stock Z6 w/auto trans will usually put down anywhere from 77-85 whp, but with that extensive list of mods, I can see power output being anywhere from 75-88whp and IMO, that's pushing the envelope.
You may want to consult with a transmission expert to see if the potential 3 horsepower increase may result in all out transmission failure.

It'll be fine dude, be more concerned with regular routine maintenance than anything at this point.
I/H/E? Its an econobox with a slushbox. Gains from that type of setup are miniscule, you'd do better to equip a cherry bomb with a fart tip on the end of the car if you like that raspy buzzing sound of annoyance.
gains of 10-13 are...yeah, not gonna happen. All those bolt-ons will do on a D series engine are move the power band around, and if you get what most people who don't know what they're doing get, you're going to move the power band outside of a usable range.
Seriously, save your money on the parts. Spend it on a full tune-up - you'll actually gain power from that, especially if your ignition and fueling systems haven't been well-maintained. Hell, if you spend it on a full tune-up, you'll still have money left over to take a nice gal out for a nice dinner. Maintain your car, have it running better and cleaner, get better gas mileage, AND the possibility of getting your dick sucked after dinner?
Beats the hell out of a shitty intake and a ricebomb any day of the week.

Woah woah. After dinner?! You gotta get her when she's still hungry, bro. KnowwhatImean?!! Eh? Fuggedaboudit.
I could see about a 5-7hp gain at the crankenshaft. If he's concerned with what the trans can handle...he's concerned with what is coming out of the flywheel.
Not that its gonna make 10-13hp....but what kind of trans can't handle a 10-13hp bump, OP?
