i have a 99 civic that makes a creaking or grinding sound when i go over bumps. i have noticed that it's much worse going over bumps when i also making a left turn. oddly, it doesn't do the same thing going over bumps and a making right turns. any help diagnosing would be appreciated.

 

Sounds like an issue with your bushings, specifically on the left side. Is the noise coming from the front, or the rear?

 

i'm pretty sure it's coming from the rear passengers side. it's gets much louder with more weight in the car - if that is helpful.

 

Inspect your bushings and ball joints, starting with that wheel. If it's rubber, it might be the source. Pretty common for cars this age.

Definitely bushings, take a look a the trailing arm bushing.

 

Also check the exhaust system.

 

i'm a little embarrased to say i can find the ball joints in the rear. can you suggest where i can find a diagram?
