I have a 2001 ITR and i want to have a nice setup for the track, I was thinking about getting shocks, so i wanted to know if i should get shocks and springs or keep the stock springs and just get shocks? I don't car about the height of the car and i am only doing this for fun, i also don't want it to be overly harsh. Also what camber kits are recommended for the track and alignment specs? I have been searching for a couple days and i am still confused any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

the big question is how much money do you have to spend on your setup. have you also considered wheel/tire package as well?
if serious i would get both springs/shocks or a good coilover system.

The ITR is a great HPDE car right out of the box.
With that said, if your shocks are worn, I'd consider replacing those with something like a Koni yellow or Bilstein. You don't need coilovers for an HPDE. You shouldn't be timing yourself against others anyway.
And as always, make sure all mechanicals and fluids are good/fresh.

A couple of us locally run the Koni Yellow/Ground Control combo. Other few run the Eibach R2s $$$.
Like Todd said try running it stock if there is nothing wrong with the suspension. We should hit up Thunderhill or Laguna with NCRC before the year is over!

thanks for the reply's guys, i went to Thunderhill 10/25/14 and the car's suspension just feels to soft. My current setup is stock shocks with GC, and i roll with a lot of people that have s2k's and they also think my suspension is too soft. I don't really know if my shocks are worn yet don't have time to look atm. I didn't want to spend a lot of money and didn't want it too harsh since i want to drive it around the streets too.I was thinking of putting stock springs back on but If the shocks are worn and i do try koni yellow or bilstein do i need to buy new springs? Also how about the alignment should i invest in a camber kit and if so what is a good brand and what settings are recommended. I'm thinking about doing this before DEC 20 cause there's a event at Thunderhill that day and i wanted to attend.
Thanks in advance

If you are on a budget, don't want too harsh a DD ride and just want to have fun at HPDE, do like I did. I spent $80 bucks on a set of four used H&R Race springs and learned my limit in autocross and did a few fun HPDE sections. The H&R Race springs eliminate a lots body roll and together with the stock shocks, are very streetable.
What are the rates on your GC's? If you already have GC's I would just pickup some Koni Yellows or Bilsteins, fresh top hat bushings, and call it a day.

ya was very stupid of me I was mostly into drag racing back then, and how the car looked. Now i want to do HPDE and don't care for the height so i'm willing to put the stock springs back on but don't know if the shocks are too worn now because of the GC.

also i forgot to mention i only have 52k miles on my car if that gives you a better understanding of how my shocks are worn.
Please search. We've been over the benefits of all shocks and specifically Koni yellows on all types of springs/coilovers, including stock springs.
They are worn. Buy new ones.

I know the op says he doesn't care about looks but I thought I'd post this anyways in case others are curious. Here is my car on Koni Race struts/stock springs on the lowest perch up front and middle perch in the rear. I've only tracked the car once with this setup but was very pleased with the handling. Just a slight drop.

If you're comparing your ITR to a S2000...yes...the ITR will have substantially more roll.
You'll need a pretty hard edged setup for the car to be modded S2000 flat. But even something like 350F/400R springs should make it much flatter than stock. My ITR felt a bit more flat than my GF's stock AP2 with a 360/380 Koni/GC setup and a 23mm rear bar. With a 225/205 tire stagger and an alignment. ... It lapped Gingerman a little faster than a box stock AP2 on stock replacement RE050's. But...measurably slower than an AP2 with brake pads and Z1's (255's all around on hub-bored stock wheels).
I miss my ITR :'(

My $0.02:
1- Dump the worn, stock shocks in lieu of Koni/Bilsteins.
2- Don't sweat camber adjustments right now. They're nice to have *eventually* but it's just one more thing to deal with as a n00b.
3- You may/may not need the car aligned. If it's already been done and you don't change the ride height, then the toe should be unchanged so no need to re-align. If you change ride height significantly then the toe will change.
Yes, you can run stock springs with Koni/Bilstein... but if you've already got GC's I don't see why you would.

You need koni spec collars to mount onto koni yellows. They're a smaller diameter and they seat onto a metal circlip.
