I don't understand why you are willing to pay $400 for a harness that isn't even safe compared to other restraint systems on the market. For instance, the Takata (at least according to the pictures) doesn't have a submarine belt (5th point). In a high speed crash your body and literally go underneath the lapbelt and what they call "submarine" underneath the restraint system. If you are going with the JDM bling factor that is cool but if you are serious about your safety i would opt for a 5th point that is mounted with a backing plate underneath the car to spread the load. Anyone else agree with me here?

Edit: i agree with DaveROR completely. I was going to say something about how those harnesses are mounted as well.

didn't pay anywhere near $400 for the harness. friend of mine owns a huge garage/import shop in seattle, gave it to me at cost so...

Ok so you didn't overpay for the harness, even if someone payed you to have the harness i would not use it for high speed road course work. Just not safe at all.

I'd also recommend not using the harness for a high speed track event without rollover protection.

You may think we're being *****, but it's just plain stupid to risk injury/death when there are safer alternatives.

totally know what you mean, but i was greedy and spent my money(supposed to be for rollbar) on Hondata stage 3 setup with s200 ecu. yea if i roll the car, i'm pretty much screwed, but next month, the rollbar will be in!

Don't you have a stock seatbelt and stock seat that you could swap in for this event?

It might be a little more work, but it's worth it if it could be the difference between you living or dying in a crash.

here you go buddy. take a look at that mustang in the picture. now think of this guy wearing a harness and strapped in with it (you literally cannot move with a harness on..which is what it is meant for). He cannot duck out of the way in this crash. Luckily i believe he had stock seat belts on and walked away from this. Do yourself a favor and take Reid's advice

but the point is, is that pillar bar gonna save me when i flip my car and land on the top? no that pillar bar is nothing but a camera mount. if you're gonna mount your harness onto anything it should be a rollbar. wrapping my harness around that pillar bar is no different than mounting it onto a pillar bar, the pillar bar won't save my life.

The reason i put that link in there is because i wanted you to see what can happen if YOU don't have a rollbar/cage in place if your car would roll using harnesses as a restraint system. Do you see any professional racing teams who do this such as RT? Hell no, it is simply stupid and most sanctioning bodies won't allow a harness without a cage of some sort in the car. Look dude, we are simply warning you of the effects and what you choose is YOUR decision. Reid and myself are attempting to guide you in the right and SAFE direction

How many events do you have under your belt if you don't mind me asking?

A harness is supposed to keep you safer. Using one without a roll cage makes it less safe. What's the point of the harness then? I don't get the harness hype.

It only becomes less safe than stock when no rollover protection is utilized. That said, time to go out and get some

Next month you might be broken in half. This is not something to take lightly.

If you no longer have the stock seats is there any chance you could co-drive another car or find someone to loan you a stock seatbelt and a seat for the track event? Maybe someone local to you who frequents this forum?

I hope nothing will happen to you at this event but in the event something does happen, I hope that you will be able to walk away unscathed to see another day.

I understand that you understand the risks and will be adding rollbar in the near future, but it's all moot if tomorrow never comes.

Do things the right way or not at all. It's not worth the risks.
