anybody use the harness bar made by Stable Energies and/or a Sabelt harness?
i saw on the integra.vtec.net site they had a review of the bar and the author liked it. anyone here have it?
here's the review: http://integra.vtec.net/belts/guide.html
and the site where they sell it: http://www.stable-energies.com/stable/shoulder.html
also, does anyone use the Sabelt 5-pt harness?
this is just for autocross, so no roll bar yet.

I have the bar, but never used a belt with it. I'm currently selling the bar for $75.00 shipped if you're interested.
Harness - Rollbar = Broken neck in a rollover regardless of what ZygSpeed says.
Cars can and do roll in autocrosses. Sure the risk is minimal but don't think that it can't or won't happen (like Zygspeed).

As for the Stable Energies bar, I had one in my Type R for awhile, but only used it to hold a camcorder. It worked well for that.
Not sure what Sabelt harnesses you are considering, but I think Schroth belts are a better choice for autocrossing.

.... and the roof of cars these days are designed to be pretty strong, no?
For example,
You really can't beat the price on that particular harness. I know I'll get flamed for this, but I think those (5 pt) are overkill for autocross. The Schroth belts IMHO are the best for autocross because they are so easy to get in and out of, and they can be unclipped out of the way pretty easily. They don't require a sub belt since they have Schroth asm technology (http://www.soloracer.com/harnschrothfaq.html).
I guess the good thing about the Sabelt though, is that you will be all set if you get a rollbar/cage and start doing track events. I know alot of road racers and track junkies who have that exact harness. Its a great deal.

I've seen that pic many times. Does anyone know how many times that car rolled? It looks like it had to go over several times to do that much damage. I doubt it just tipped over on its roof and flatten like that.
I have the bar installed in my 2K Si. Installation was a no brainer. I also have a 5-pt Sabelt harness. Instead of bolting the shoulder belts to the rear seatbelt mount points, I have them looped to the harness bar.
Before anyone brings it up again, I know it's unsafe in a rollover...I'm working on installing a roll bar...

Either that, or EMS did some cutting to get people out. (Like the M3 at Summit Point)
I have that Sabelt harness from Racer Wholesale. Although it`s my first harness and I have no basis for comparison, I think it`s great. I use it with a Sparco Sprint seat (I made a fifth hole). It doesn't come with hardware at that price, so make sure you order the type you want. I`t will only cost like 10-15$ more. You can make them clip-in removable with the right hardware. Once you`re belted in, you can`t even reach your gloves on the dash. You don`t move. Make sure you get pull-up lap belts, I can't imagine how pull-down could be better.

pull up lap belts, meaning you pull towards your body, rather than away? this is easier?
i'm planning to get the eye-bolts for both sides so i can use the clip ends. install like this: http://integra.vtec.net/belts/belts.html
thanks for your help,

Does the stable energies bar attach to the front or rear seat belt mount point??
and is any mods necessary for installation?
drumsy, you've got IM.

My great uncle survived a fiery crash in an RAF Spitfire at full speed, with no rollover protection.
I would not take that as any particular recommendation, however, that it's safe to fly a fighter without a parachute.

The question comes up about once every week or two, and the same argument ensues. Use This as well.
The one thing i will say, is that HPDE events have rules and regulations. They exist for your saftey and the workers' saftey, and the emergency crew saftey and everyone's enjoyment. The rules were drawn up from years of experience from different sources, and have been modified, tweaked, and changed over time for the best results while maintaining a safe environment.
If, for whatever reason you feel the rules are unsafe, should be changed, etc, bring it up with the sanctioning body for your local (often not-so-local) HPDE events and discuss it with the event organizers so that progress can be made in the light of a safe and fun environment. For the record, all convertable cars are required to run a roll bar for HPDE events. Because otherwise, it is most definately not safe.
