Ls/vtec running issues
Ok guys i have a 00 civic hx with an ls/vtec swap(b18a1 block, b16a2 head) i have all of the wiring done correctly, but it runs like junk. Basically what happens is the car will start and run really rough it runs so rough it won't even stay running unless my foot is on the throttle lightly. I'm not sure what to do.. I've tried adjusting the distributor timing but it will only start and run with the distributor turned all the way to the fire wall if anyone could help it would mean a lot i'm out of ideas
so i attempted to hook a scan tool up to the normal obd2 spot and it wouldn't read any codes i'm not sure how to get the info off my p28, I have a 00 civic hx(obd2a)

yes a p28 is an obd1 ecu and i agree with the tps/map/mechanical timing... i think im going to retime it tomorrow and ohm the tps sensor out as well
Hey guys update on issue. I have retimed the engine it is not right on the dot with timing mechanically, but now she cranks but won't fire at all ... HELP PLEASE =(
I assume your referring to timing the cams to the crankshaft, right?
It's your timing bud. Get someone who knows how to time it to help you.
Also, not sure what specs your lsv calls for, but I bet your cam timing needs to be set as well, I doubt it's meant to be 0 (TDC).

You will not be able to pull a code from the DLC using an obd1 ECU. There is no communication between the ECU and DLC. Best bet is to plug in the p28 and using a paper clip jump the SCS connector to pull the cel code. You will need to count the check engine lightbulb flashes. Google search " how to read obd1 honda codes " and all the information will be a click away.
