Icon2 d16y8 oil pan

Hey guys I have a 96 civic ex with a d16y8 had to buy a new oil pan (oem) the pan is aluminum I guess there is a grove around the lip of the pan for the round gasket my question is do I need any gasket sealer for this application when installing

You'll need some sealer for the corners where the pan meets the main caps.


In about ten minutes, some ricer jackass is going to tell you to ONLY use Honda bond which is Honda's brand of sealer, but Honda bond is not necessary, any off the shelf permatex type silicon will work.

And make sure not to over tighten it. Stick to OEM specs or it will leak again.

As loose as you may think it is, it will seal fine

Ok great info just a little confused on the sealer on the corners where to put it (hondabond?)
