Just curious for my build I've been working on for awhile.

Plenty of people don't for that power level, but better to have the piece of mind that your bottom end will hold together, just do it. Its not that much for a good girdle, and machine work, just make sure you get your mains align honed, proper main studs/ bolts, oil pickup, windage tray, and oil pan if you decide to have a girdle installed.

The girdle is more for crank stability at high rpm. Girdles come in two styles.

A 3 cap style like the factory gsr girdle (erl, endyn, z10, etc)
A full 5 cap that ties all of the mains together, erl is the only company I know of making this style.

And the ERL 5main girdle is very expensive. For most people the 3main girdle would do just fine, as wantboost stated, they are just for crank stability, and they aren't really necessary. There are plenty of builds out there where the engine still has an OEM crank, main bolts, and no girdle. Some people opt for a GSR block/girdle setup, yet again not necessary, all depends on how well you build your engine, and how well you take care of it.

9.9 out of 10 times the high HP cars torch pistons and burn valves when there is a failure. I haven't seen many failures that I feel a girdle would have prevented.
