Ok guys im about to assembly my Jdm Gsr short block going for boost. Just curious what tolerances you guys are seeing across you main journals and rod journals with these bearing. How many miles you got out of your turbo motor/set up ect with ACL Race bearning. Machine shop told me to run standard bearings everything was in spec. So thats what i order ACL Race std. I Know measuring is the key to longivity out of a engine i just dont have a good mic set or else i would have done it my self. I order bearing for both main and rod journals Using ACL race bearing .Using manley h beam rods, cp 9:1 pistons stock sleeves 81.5mm bore. I hope everything plastigages out, If not im ordering a good set to measure myself along with my dial bore gauge. I know ACLS Dont work on every engine but i sure hope it does for mine.

 

If your machine shop measured all your clearances and they were within spec you will probably just fine with acl standard size bearings. On my engine I ended up with .0015 on the rod bearings and .0018 on the mains. Anywhere between .0015-.002 and you should be just fine. I prefer to shoot for the looser side when building for a boosted engine. Just make sure you double check with plasi gauge.

 

A company called Shars makes affordable measuring tools if u want..mine were ok'd for use at work.
I wouldn't trust a machine shop...unless it's someone top level, like ERL,
and it ain't, lol

 

I run standards and get them them to be as close to oem spec as possible. oem motors last forever. I know guys say more power run them loose.
But I know of a few people running over 400hp on stock bottom ends/cast pistons for years

 

.0019-.0020 across the mains and .0017-.0018" on the rods.

 

I was in range with everything people are saying here. I've been putting my setup through the paces these last few years it's holding up. oil pressure is around 80 psi at 210 deg f with 20-50

 

My rods with acl race bearings came out at .002" and my mains a little looser at .0024-.0026"

Have about 15,000 hard miles on it. Great oil pressure with 0w-40

 

.0018 - .002. around 30k miles boosted, daily driven for most of it. Still going strong.
