Toda A's for DC2R
01 DC2R
Im looking at doing a cam upgrade for my daily drive (once a week, lol), and came across a lot of reviews of the Toda As. Anyone had experience with them, or can recommend something better that they know of?
My motor is all stock apart from header, exhaust and intake, looking to improve in the mid range, with a mildly lumpy sound (something like this if posible
)
Will i need to upgrade valve train and would I need cam gears, I would be tuning with Hondata.

You wont need to upgrade valve train for toda A's they will idel and run fine on factory ECU. Tunning is recomended for maxx gain from them though. You prob wont need cam gears with the A"s unless u really want to fine fine tune them.The toda A 2's are a hybrid of the A"s and B's basicly small lobe is like A's and big cam lobe similar to the B's they will need upgraded valve springs and cam gears will help maximize the A2's
Hope that helps

Pretty much what he said above. About looking for the "mildly lumpy sound" exhaust notes, you won't get that with a mild cams. Even my Toda B and JUN 3 cams idle like normal (stock). A Toda killer cams or Skunk2 pro2 or pro3 will do (from what I have seen).
Ok so Toda A2s require upgrading valve train while the Toda As will not. What about rocketmotorsport m22x. I have the option to purchase them but have been told will need larger injectors and fuel regulator
If you are looking for more mid to top range gain in power, I would recommend the Toda Spec B cams. The Spec A's are a very very mild cam, so you will not get a lumpy idle. I am running Toda Spec B cams with cam gears tuned with Hondata and the idle is not lumpy at all (Really depends on how well it's tuned). This is also with some head work and I've also upgraded my valve springs and a few other things.
If you want a more lumpy idle, then go with Toda Spec C's, but only do this if you are planning to do a lot of engine mods and it's not a daily (ie. head and bottom end work).
Which part of Australia are you located in? If you are in Melbourne I can show you how it's like with the Toda Spec B camshafts on my DC2R.
