Whine sound when key is turned to position 2..
Hello,
I'm new to this site. Am a "member" over at CRV Owners, but honestly haven't found it too helpful, so here am. I have a 2000 EX, I'm located in Cleveland Ohio...
So, when i turn my key, to the second position, right before start, i hear a "whine" coming from the engine bay. It seems like its around the intake resonator area, kind of like a fuel pump priming up. Only happens on cold starts. Whines for about a second or two, then after it starts, for another second. I have replaced 3 fuel injectors(due to leakage) and the fuel pressure regulator(because i had a spare, brand new, and the one on looked cruddy). There are no engine lights on or anything, doesn't seem to drive poorly etc etc. I have yet to change the fuel filter, but that's about it.
Thanks for any help you guys might have.

Haven't done my fuel pressure yet. Gonna do that this weekend. It does seem like it's inline with the fuel lines, but it just doesn't seem like it's originating at the pump. The sound is more near and in the engine bay. So hard to pinpoint. I haven't had any "driveablity" issues, although it does seem a little sluggish once in awhile, but that could just be how it feels to me, as my other car is an 88 VW Scirocco. I've got a new fuel filter that I'm gonna put in this weekend, but i don't think that's the issue, just doing it, since i don't know the age of the one on there.
Also, is there a way to bench test a fuel pump? i pulled a couple from the junkyard this weekend.
Thanks again for the help.
Yes, you can bench test them BUT it is more of a PITA than it is worth. If you wanted to make sure it isn't dead or froze you can just apply power to it no problem. To make sure it pumps good pressure it is a MUCH more involved process that gets messy.
Ok, i did my fuel pressure this weekend. I changed the fuel filter as well, but i tested before and after to see if there was any difference. Before i changed the filter, the FP was 33, and after i changed it, was 35, at idle. the only thing i did not do, or pay attention to(i was in a bit of a time constraint) im not sure if i got it up to operating temp.
