Default USDM mirrors on JDM Power Folding Mirrors for CRX

I have the JDM power folding mirrors installed but I'm not happy with the appearance of the mirrors as the driver side mirror has to be adjusted in an extreme way in order to use it. I understand it's because of the RHD/LHD variances. Was wondering if you can swap out a USDM Civic LX power mirror and install it onto the base on the JDM mirror so that the folding feature would still be available?

New to HT, so I apologize if I need to be directed to another forum/thread.

You can probably swap the glass, but be warned that the plastic clips will probably break.

I had JDM folding mirrors for the sedan and experienced the same issue.
Unfortunately the glass was not the same shape.
If you are willing to try on the CRX mirrors, you simply heat the glass up with a heat gun until you can release the adhesive.

I understand what you mean about swapping the mirror bucket to fixing the angle as they are suited for the RHD driver seating.
The answer is no.
The arm that extends and retracts the mirror bucket mounts inside the bucket - totally non-existent on the USDM mirror.

I appreciate the replies. The power folding feature is a "cool factor" but I would hardly ever use the feature so I'm thinking of just getting regular power mirrors. Based upon what I've researched, trying to get the power folding mirrors to view properly just ain't gonna happen. Too bad, as I put in some effort wiring those puppies up!

sooo if you are getting rid of your CRX Power Folding Mirrors ill gladly take them off your hands if you have not done so yet. I have a RHD CRX siR that would love them, I constantly have to park in the street and those would help amenslly. Let me know!

On the EG JDM mirrors, you can swap the mirror's outer halves onto the USDM bases to mount them at the correct angle. The ONLY way to do this is to use US MANUAL mirror bases as the US POWER mirror bases have a different bolt pattern between the two halves of the mirror. The wire harness fits and bolts down right where the manual operating stick used to be.

Is this not possible with the CRX mirrors???

Then, if you require it, you can swap the glass on the passengers side to get the US spec convex view (boil & peel). Again this shows an EG.

Good posting!
Wish I would have thought of that when I had mine.

Just found a post elsewhere that explains this mod in detail for the sedan.

If I'm not mistaken a friend of mine used the glass from 88-91 prelude. Again not verified.
