Default 50hp nitrous shot on b18c7

So i've got a 1000m top speed challenge coming up next year and would like a bit more poke for the drag strip too.

Dont want to go turbo or supercharged as I circuit race quite a bit and reliability and temps are a concern in this regard.

is a 50hp shot safe to run over 1000m runs?
I have an s300 which seems to have good Nitrous control, plus 600cc injectors so should have plenty of headroom to just run a dry shot.

Whats the best current kit on the market?

Thanks!

That's a long time for a nitrous hit. The motor can easily take it but you would probably need a big bottle or a dual bottle set-up to keep the pressure high for an entire run. Definitely would not be my power adder of choice for 1000 meter runs.

righto, didnt realise it would consume so much - there would be a number of runs too so I guess it's not going to work.

Guess i'll stick with the n/a buildup and just be the slowest one there haha

You can always Supercharge it with a centrifugal intercooled supercharger, Pro charger, crafts work use a front mount intercooler. There pretty reliable and you won't have any temp regards as there intercooled.

yeah i looked at the supercharger options

I like the jrsc options for the instant torque but intake temps even intercooled may be an issue
the kraftwerks ones require losing the air-con/power steering and I think clearance to my full size mishimoto radiator + fans would be an issue
the procharger one looks best on that front as it moves it all the way to the bottom of the bay, might be just a bit too expensive though

ha, even less chance of a bottle lasting!
its a full weekend of 400m/800m/1000m runs so i guess its not really a viable option

The problem is superchargers have never been a very viable power adder for our motors. Just not enough displacement to matter. Also the power is entirely rpm dependant, you'll make the same power at the same time in every gear... Not the greatest thing for long distance speed events.

You need a setup that makes midrange power on top of high rpm power, with any supercharger, especially a centrifugal, you won't make much for midrange and peak power will be made at the rpm limit of the motor. You really need to turbo the car.

The midrange power and top end power will get you through 1000m quicker than any supercharger ever could. Lots of cars on this forum make high power (over 600) and are still reliable when competing in such competitions.

Look up gringoteg, he has a 1/2 mile/full mile turbo Integra making over 700hp at the moment (iirc) and it's scary fast at these events.

Also staying NA makes no sense for a long distance speed car, especially if you're trying to be competitive and what might work well for a 1000m car definitely won't work as well for a 1/4 mile drag car.

You need to look at your goals for the car and pick the proper setup for one kind of racing, get it running right, and then look at what parts of your setup would need to change between the two.

yep, hence why I was looking at nitrous, for a good mid and top end bump, without the associated cooling issues that a turbo setup would give.

in the end the car doesnt really have space for an FMIC in the front with the air-con and radiator so i'll shelve it for now and run n/a or my other car again
Its never really going to be competitive (last years winner was a 1000+hp R32 GTR), just fun to be part of and would have been nice to surprise some people

cooling issues aren't issues if the car is built and setup properly with the correct parts

fair enough, i guess my thoughts are that a 1/2 size radiator, behind Air-con condenser, with a turbo setup in up to 40deg ambient temps for circuit racing may struggle thats all.

Happy to listen to peoples thoughts on the matter but i guess better to start a different thread for that

You can use a water to air intercooler and fit it somewhere else besides the front bumper like right before the throttle.

yeah, still need to have a radiator for the water coolant at the front of the car though

Yea so you can place the water to air intercooler somewhere else like right before the throttle like how the vortech supercharger water to air intercooler is setup like. doesn't have to be right there but you get the idea.

yeah, the point is that you still need a front mounted radiator for it, which essentially defeats the purpose
