Default D17A2 swap to D17A

I have 01 Civic EX with a D17A2 motor. The headgasket is blown. I'm interested in swapping to a D17A JDM engine. I've got someone who can do the motor swap, but I need to watch out for pitfalls. If I drop my car off and this D17A motor at the shop, what should they be aware of?

Things I'm concerned about.
Immobilizer - If I use the original ECU, this shouldn't be a problem. Should it?
Sensors - Will the wiring harness of my current sensors hook up to the new engine?

Anyone have any useful links Guides, walkthroughs, or previous success story links?

Well the 1 thing you have to watch it's for the immobilizer but if you decide to do it get the ecu/ pcm flash.

Did the swap. No issues so far. I am using the D17A2 ECU on the D17A.

Hi... I was wondering if your swap was still successful? My son is needing to do the same thing, going from a D17A2 to a D17A. Wondering if we need to get a new ECU or harness or what? Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Just swapping into a lower mileage motor that's all. Still the same motor as the D17a2

I'm on my D17a2 ECU also, but since you brought that up. Would it run into a problem in the long run?. JW

Ok! That's what I figured. My 03 civic ex is in the shop for a mysterious oil leak that I cannot locate, after rear cam plug and what not. Thanks for the response!

Is it an auto or manual?

im planning on the same thing going with the jdm d17a and keeping the vtec on it since my a2 has it, which shouldn't be a problem still researching this. my a2 has a cracked block and head gasket but still runs which surprised me, but I now have oil in my antifreeze and in my exhaust so gotta get this swap done soon, and I am running a manual which hopefully will bolt on to the jdm with no issues as I will be doing this swap on a real tight budget, which includes a new clutch kit and flywheel plus motor mounts which my car needs badely
