lost on how to remove inner tie rod
I've seen vide and some good threads.... But I'm confused on what exactly to take off. Do I have to remove the bolt behind that crushed washer? Need some guidance please.
check out this post Look at the first picture, put a wrench on the flat spots on the rack and another adjustable wrench on the flat spots on the "washer" that gets replaced. And just unscrew it. The tabs on the "washer" will break off easily. Look at some of the other pictures of the washer before and after so you will understand what you are dealing with.
1. see, with the right question in its own thread, you get specific answers. yes im a dick for pointing out im right.
2. the inner tie rods are easier to take out with the whole steering rack out. ive done it both ways, its possible without taking the rack out, its just a lot easier.
3. if youre taking the inner rack out, then you REALLY ought to be replacing the steering rack end bushing as well. it would be a complete waste of time for so much gain.
4. why ARE you taking the inner tie rod out?

Thanks for the help guys! I was able to get one inner tie rod out. I bent back the washer a little had a 7/8 wrench on that slot on the rack and a 19 wrench somehow angled onto the bolt and was able to break it free.
I'm replacing inner and outer tie rods and the boots. And what bushing at the end of rack?

I'm going to assume that you are banned from Google

Oh must have missed it. Also, has anyone bought the inner tie rods from an oreilleys by any chance? There's these cheap ones that I'm not going to buy, but there's also these Moog type one, part ev127. Was wondering if its identical to Moog products? Oem one is 70$ and the oreilleys one is like 40.
Hey bro just a heads up if your changing the inner tie rods i wouldnt bother. i would suggest you replace the whole rack and pinion and the new one will come with new inner ties. reason being is your inner ties may only help for a short period of time. your seals on the rack and pinion are extremely old and worn out for its age/use. of course this is only a option if you have the currency. i also recommend the poly seal kit from eneergy suspen. its worth the money and time to do this. you can also find cheap rack/pinions on ebay. i know people talk crap about ebay but you are quite literally get the same product from your local autoparts store. but you will be paying 100.00+ more wich is good if you want the lifetime warranty if it comes with one. "usually only remans".
so better to try to salvage and reuse it.
unless you already have a replacement and really dont care.
We can still get the washers in Canada, some aftermarket inners come with a washer that is a perfect replica (my moog brand did). If youre careful you can re-use the oem washer
Buy a high quality tie rod, its not the place to save money.
A rack end bushing is also HIGHLY recommended, guarantee yours is broken, only $10 from your local Honda dealer and youve already done the hard part of the disassembly to get access to the plastic bushing

Rack and pinions go bad? Or just the bushings? I did search some on eBay, some were 100, but Idk the quality of the inner tie rods orthe whole thing. Right now i have to buy both inner tie rods, the bellow boots, and the rack end bushing, which probably will come out to 100$.
