Default 1990 Honda Civic revving hard and burning smell

Hi guys,
my 1990 honda civic automatic is running really hard while I'm driving and will not stop even when I'm pressing the brakes. It's like the accelerator is getting stuck but the pedal is not stuck. I put it in to neutral and it revved harder. I had to turn the engine off for a few seconds for it to stop. It started again soon though. There is also a burning smell in the engine but I don't know much about fixing cars. Can't find anything online about this issue. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like u need to clean your throttle body. Get a can of carb cleaner, take off your intake tube from the throttle body. Use the lever to open the throttle plate, and spray some carb cleaner on the hinges and spring and clean out the inside with a lintless towel or equivalent. If that doesnt help, adjust your throttle cable or you may have to buy a new one. I bought a longblock from hmotors and the throttle body spring was just defected. I had to use my old throttlebody.
