The black part of my key broke in half. Can I get it fixed somewhere?
As strange as this sounds, I duct taped the key together and sometimes it works, but it's still difficult to get a grip on the key when I turn on the ignition for my Honda Accord 2005 LX.
It's the second time it happened. With my first key, I lost the end part so I don't have a spare.
What are my options? It seems the dealer wants $130 to replace the key. Is that the only way?

i've done it before. i got a blank key off ebay (no remote in it). Then I had to cut away some plastic holding the key blank to the case. transferred the cut key from the broken case and JB welded it in place. Then i had to transfer the immobilizer chip and remote to the new case.
One problem is that some aftermarket key blanks use a different end than the OEM key so you have to find a blank with the same shape where the metal meets the plastic.

Or get something similar to this but for your model.
