V6 making missing and making a lot of top end noise
I have recently bought a 2004 Honda Accord V6 Luxury. here is a link the see what it was like in Australia http://www.mynrma.com.au/motoring-se...-road-test.htm
All of a sudden, it started making a lot of noise from the top of the motor, it started missing badly and lacks power... The Check Engine Light came on and everything I have tried so far has not helped... I have changed the oil and filter, checked the VTec Solenoid's mesh filter. I removed the valve covers and checked the valve clearances... they were ok.
If anyone can give me some ideas on what i should check next, please let me know.
Cheers,
Peter

Re: V6 making missing and making a lot of top end noise
Ok so after doing investigations today I can rule out the VTec solenoid, the coil packs and Vtec system itself.
I discovered today that the back 3 cylinders are not firing at all... Could this be some sort of limp mode?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Peter

Got it going again. It turns out the cam belt had jumped 7 teeth on the back cam. It bent a valve which destroyed itself 3 days after I got the engine running again.
Has anyone else had this problem of the cam belt jumping teeth? By the way.... the belt had only done 30,000km

How many miles are on this car? If the belt was changed recently, maybe they changed the belt, and not the tensioner, or did something else to screw up the job. Who did the timing belt? This is my first time hearing of a 7th gen belt slipping.

Sounds like a bad tensioner to me or who ever did the belt didn't keep the tension of the belt on the front head.
