Default b16a2 rev limit

So, according to my research, b16's revlimit should be around 8,200. My b16a2 only goes up to 6,000 though. I've been reading that it could be distributor (i think?). What else could it be though? Just tune ecu? Also it's running obd2a to obd1 p28. It's a 96 civic ex. Thanks in advance for any help.

Redline @ 8k, rev limit at 8.2k, VTEC @ 5.6k. Is your CEL on? Does it work? Why are you using a chipped ECU, rather than a stock P30?

CEL is on because no o2 sensor. I bought car from a buddy and ecu was already jumped to p28.

Pull the codes to make sure. Fix the codes, then start worrying about your OP. Halfassed work never ends well.

Why not use the ECU that came with the car?

Isnt the P28 from a D16Z6?

OP, here's another question for ya. When you hit 6k, does it act like a rev limiter (bouncing rapidly), or does it just lose power?

I'm guessing this is a chipped P28?

You may have a clogged VTEC solenoid or it may be unplugged/have a bad connection.

Or there's something wrong with the ECU. The ECU dictates rev limit...not the engine.

So, i cleaned out the vtec solenoid. it had little metal shavings in there. Drove around and then tested but no luck, still bogged at like 6,200 - 6,400 rpm.

How about this: Stop ignoring problems thinking they aren't related. Fix the O2 sensor code.

I was actually going to do that but I don't think it'll solve the problem.

When i swapped in my b16, i swapped the harness with it. Only 1 o2 sensor was plugged up because si harness has 1 plug vs d series having 2. Si ecu gave no code for the 2nd o2 sensor.

Completely irrelevant, because A - OP has an OBD1 ECU, so it doesn't care about a secondary O2 sensor, and B - your wiring would have been OBD2B, where the secondary O2 sensor would be part of the cabin harness, not the engine harness.

It also might be masking another problem. Like I said, halfassed work never ends well. Fix everything, not just what you feel like fixing.

Ya know what plays a role in your AFRs? The O2 sensor you didn't think was at all related. Fix the O2 sensor code, fix the problem.

O2 sensors don't set rev limits. The ECU ignores both of them after a certain throttle %. They don't affect VTEC either.

This has to be another troll thread. OP is being dense on purpose.
