Default boost gone wild.wont hold steady boost

tial 38mm waste gate with 14psi spring. ebc set at 19-20psi. greddy rs bov
the boost gauge flutters like violently from 19psi to 20psi at wot 11.5afr
no idea what it could be checked for boost leaks at 10psi none found. At 20psi it flutters and you can clearly hear the turbo/boost fluttering

gonna try new bov tomorrow I think the bov is just shitty. Im not running a filter on the turbo

gonna get a video tomorrow. datalogs wont show ****

I also have an air filter on my turbo and it doesn't do that.
I run an AEM dry flow filter what kind are you running? Also what kind of manifold are you running, HP output, and turbo size?

Where is the boost reference for the bov? Turbo? Intake manifold?

Exhaust manifold and turbo may not be as relevant, but all information is best to give

The reason I asked about the turbo is because, my current setup the turbo is a little small and has a problem holding 20psi at high rpm and boost starts to drop off. Just wondering if he is have a similar type issue.

To the original poster what size down pipe and exhaust are you running?

Also, what kind of EBC?

Did it work fine for a while, and then this suddenly started happening? Or you changed something/installed something new and now it does this?

I run a screen no filter..too tight of an area have to find one that fits. manifold is a ramhorn
hp output now is 250hp estimated. turbo size is 60 trim I beileve .63 exhaust size garret

from the vaccum block which is run off the brake booster. the vac block also runs the boost gauge which reds the boost. There is no nipple off the turbo that I have found.

turbo is bigger than my last turbo with .48 exhaust wheel. boost doesn't drop builds steadily and just goes nuts once it reaches 20psi I plan to tune it at 22psi. down pipe is 3in 4 bolt and about 6 inches long straight down. no exhaust yet

ebc is greddy profec b
I just put this car back together with new turbo and it was never tuned higher than 18psi earlier.

Today buddy is dropping off tial bov and seeing if it helps. gonna try running some new vacc lines to all the stuff and ebc

Hmm... At what RPM is this happening? Did I read that right; you are using a .48 A/R?

Surge?

I would remove the EBC from the equation first to see what happens. Just disable it and run line direct from turbo (or manifold) to wastegate temporarily.

.63 ar and under 20psi it doesnt flutter its only at 19-20 psi it starts to flutter. If I turn the boost controller off and run it off the spring which is 14psi it doesn't happen nor at 16-17-18psi

I don't really know what that could be. I can't imagine the boost controller having any trouble maintaining 20psi on a 14psi spring. Are you able to tell which component is causing the actual flutter noise? Might be the BOV, the boost solenoid, the turbo itself?

I mean if you have a combination that is creating this 20psi at something like 3500RPM then it sounds like compressor surge, but that is honestly unlikely with most Honda turbo setups.

Sounds like more testing and troubleshooting ahead. Hopefully someone else has more ideas.

I checked and im running a 13psi spring shouldn't matter much. I cant tell where the flutter is coming from I just got a good idea though ill hook my gopro up somehow near the bov and turbo see what its doing
