Sort of locked out
I got a 1994 Civic Lx. Apparently something happened to the outside door handle on the left rear door. Something came loose or broke. I could not get it open from the outside, but, I was able to open from the inside. UNTIL!!!!!!! my dillweed neighbor engaged the child safety lock. Now I can't open it at all. Any suggestions on getting my door open so I can fix it
The inside door handle is only held in my a screw or two. Remove it, and see if you can pull the rod to open the door. If that fails, you could theoretically use that hole to get to the rod for the outside handle and pull it open that way. It's probably just popped or broken off the handle - there's only a small piece of plastic holding the metal rod in there.
Had the EXACT same thing happen. Use a metal coathanger, stretch it out...open the other rear door for reference as to where you need to poke / pull / prod. It took me about 5 minutes to get mine unlocked.. and what had happened was one of those little plastic clips holding the "coat-hanger looking release bar" inside the door had broken.
Good luck, you'll get it. Don't give up.
