which is the best aftermarket intake manifold for the S2000?
and why?

 

First off, how much power are you making, or whats your power goal?

 

the question was in general, but lets break it in to 3 different power level.
up to 500hp
up to 1000hp
over 1000hp

 

Not a lot of companies make intake manifolds for our cars. The Factory are very nice. Inline pro use to make one but I cant find it on their website, full race was making one or did. Mangus makes them but I haven't really heard much about that one. I think a lot of people go custom or just port the stock one out. Are you looking to make a manifold for the S2000?

 

Reason why I ask is to point out its a pointless question to ask unless you're applying it to your build. Stock is fine, but I would suggest port matching the head and intake manifold together. After that gains can range from 500hp to who knows. The s2000 intake runners are short so if you want to make longer runners then your looking at even more power....there's no set hp for the intake manifold as it's one of the last things you should do to squeeze out power

 

I do remember reading that our intake runners are sized for a 1.6 liter engine, mainly so it could fit under the hood

 

hypertune used to make one, i emailed them last week and they might bring it back next year. it cost around 2k but it comes a throttle body(size of ur choice) and a fuel rail.

Looking to make a new manifold for the S2000
And just wanted to hear the public's opinion.

 

It honestly wouldn't be worth making a new manifold - The stock/standard is actually VERY-well made. Honda in general doesn't really cheap out on the intake side of things. Better off spending your money elsewhere. - Just out of curiousity what is your BUDGET on having a new one made?

Yep. I figured it out late and now I'm a little pissed my time was wasted...

 

Any chance of making something that would make power for mild na setup

 

You would need something with straight runners while keeping the diameter the same, and a slightly larger plenum.
Honestly the best way to get power out of a NA F20/F22 is to slap a K20 head on there lol.

 

IMO, a "mild" NA setup, the best sollution would be to first put an EMS on it, tune it and get the potential out of what you have.

There isnt a "shelf selection" of S2000 intake manifolds available to compare for your "normal" build.

For an NA setup you're better of extrude hone / polish your stock. There's tradeoffs in the powerband when you start modifying the intake manifold and really it only makes sense when you start getting aggressive for your mods - for example FI. There's better power-adders you can start with...

 

So since there really isn't an intake manifold for the S2K... Would it be ok the just keep the stock manifold and change just the throttle body and TPS sensor to let's say a skunk 2 one or no?

 

For what purpose? You're gonna get all there is to get with a K&N FIPK or AEM intake and they don't claim much more then 7 HP. Unless you have a tuneable ECU and access to a dyno anything more will be un-measurable..

Not looking for horses right now... Just want it back on the road honestly and need a new intake manifold, I just don't want get a stock intake manifold for $700... If I can go with the skunk 2 for about $300... So yea would putting the skunk 2 intake manifold on a stock exhaust manifold effect any calibrations or perameters and throw the check engine light back on?

 

OEM Intake manifolds start just over $120.00 on Ebay. Depends on the year, there are at least 3 different part numbers.

ok yea I know that but if I can get a skunk 2 for 100 more that's cool but again... Would it affect the stock exhaust manifold if I go with the skunk 2 intake manifold?

 

Hard for me to guess at this. Needs a lot of data capture which can't be done with other than the AP2 DBW ECU and FlashPro or a piggyback or aftermarket ECU. There are only minimal gains to be made to this engine unless you go to forced induction (or NOS).

Search for the Jenvey intake information on the Speed Academy. They've been tweaking an old, tired S2000 AP1 for the past couple of years. If you're not on the S2KI forums you're missing a lot of technical information.
