Default "Mr. Dirty" Carbon fiber breather box

What you are looking at is the "Mr. Dirty" carbon fiber breather box I hand made. Also pictured is the strut tower mounting bracket.

Thanks for looking!

I have a dry carbon breather box as well with a 20an fitting on one end for our dry sump tank... sexy piece that's for sure.

I need one of those plenums lol.. and an autoclave

Yes an autoclave would be nice but honestly the way the composites industry is moving, they will become a thing of the past. They are too expensive.

I still cook my parts but use a more crude way of doing it.

I use a hot bonder that monitors vacuum and heat and cook the carbon in a heat chamber. I can get the same vf as pre preg parts so... I'd say I'm close to autoclave quality (in some aspects)!

Thanks for looking and boy! A -20 is a big *** fitting!!!

Did you by chance have any reaction from the carbon and hot oil? I put a high performance epoxy primer that is said to have outstanding resistance to oils just to prevent problems. Probably overkill but.

Well I'd like to post up a bit of excitement! The box worked great!!! The uni filters kept the oil vapors suspended inside the box like a charm tonight!

I installed the box in the pits tonight in about 10 minutes. My customers car had no prior shakedown and it was agreed to just go for it! With out a second thought the car went. He won the time attack tonight! But, he is the track record holder. Overall, Loved it and it did its job. I checked drain back and it worked well. Ironically, the carbon bracket was flexible enough to tip the box so all oil could be drained back easily.

I did however discover I need to design an interal baffle. The car would throw oil out the outboard two vents in the turns. It wasn't a lot but that is no bueno. Has to be addressed and fixed.

Here are some pictures of it installed. Really looks badass!!!
I'm really happiest about reporting the win with my box I made with my bare hands.

Congrats Joshua! Not sure if you are a member but kudos bro!

Just a little update:

I fabricated this drop in baffle to control oil sloshing inside the box as an option. It is placed inside the box.

I need to ask some of my friends for their CF fabric scraps so I can get back in the mold making/fabric laying awesomeness

I broke my phone last night but I swear I'll try to get photos of my breather and bracket

Looks nice, it could basically be universal.

How are you keeping the fittings attached to the box?

Hey are orb bulkhead fittings. Lol the naked box is lighter than the clasps and fittings together! Thanks for the compliments. I'm planning on doing a promotional give away soon in Facebook and Instagram so stay tuned.

Ah ok, it was hard to tell from the photos.

Is there ant internal baffling or filtration media to condense oil vapors into a liquid?

Both. There is a sandwich baffle and filter media. Depends on what you want to do.
