1998 Integra GS B18B1 No Spark, Starter Won't Engage Through Ignition Switch
Ok, so I'm stumped. My 1998 Acura Integra GS died yesterday evening. Yesterday morning, the starter wouldn't engage by turning the key, so I roll started the car it ran fine. I replaced the fuel filter and installed an oil pressure gauge. Car continued running fine. Then in the evening, I was in 4th gear going uphill and the car started acting like it was running out of gas. I downshifted to 3rd and the car just died. Tried roll starting it and got nothing. Got it towed home and thought maybe the igniter, internal coil, or rotor had went out, so I replaced the distributor and spark plugs. Still no spark. I checked the starter by jumping it, and it tried and tried to crank the car, she cranked but she wouldn't fire because she's not getting spark. She's getting fuel, that's for sure. She has fuel pressure at the rail and the injectors are fine. Someone said Main Relay, but if the main relay went out, the fuel pump would not be working. Im so stumped, it's not even funny. Im leaning towards ignition switch, but Im not sure if the ignition switch would disable power to the distributor. Any ideas or suggestions? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!
Yes its definitely possible. Its important to keep an eye on the dashlights when the car dies. If the dash lights dont come on the ignition switch is usually faulty.
When they start failing it happens more as the car and the ignition switch contacts warm up.
Its important to go OEM Honda or major name brand when it comes to ignition switches. Ive had cheap brand ones go bad after only a year.
