Default Northern VA turbo inspection questions

Ok so first off i have a 2000 si that i'm looking to mildly boost. my question is how would passing inspections for it around here be? if i put an obd1 ecu in my civic so i could tune it would i just have to put my stock ecu back in the car when i go to get an inspection? would i have to possibly remove the entire turbo set up or just put a cat back in and change out my injectors? is there a possible way i can put one of the newer honda obd2 ecu's in there and tune it that way so i can just stay obd2 indefinitely?

Oh and before i get a response that just says use the search button, i have been researching for the past 2 days and have yet to find an actual answer to my question as inspection rules vary from state to state.

shouldnt be a big problem. it isnt anywhere near as strict as cali. yes, they do have state inspections, and technically you arent really supposed to do it, but most dont pay too much mind to that.

No, you can't tune OBD2. If you had read the FAQ sticky, you'd know that already.

You would have to re-install your OBD2B ECU, re-install the stock injectors, and disconnect your charge piping to even consider passing. You will also need a catalytic converter, which you shouldn't be removing in the first place.

For visual safety u need to look like u have a cat.... For emissions u need to look like u have all of the original emissions crap if it came with it... Doesn't matter if there is a turbo as long as there are no exhaust leaks .... Waste gate is up to inspector.... For the obd2 check if ur monitors r ready and u don't have any codes u will pass .... If u get caught by the sniffer trucks mostly on highway ramps u will have to do the dyno test with probe from the tailpipe .... No matter what year .... If u get through all that U will be fine ... Or u can just say you garage the car somewhere else

Thank you for the answers. cool so i'll go get a p28, get it chipped and keep my stock ecu, and injectors. i'm assuming i would have to drive the car for a few miles to make sure i'm not throwing and not ready codes. thanks for the advice.

oh and NotARacist i did read somewhere that the new k series hondas ecu's are tunable. just wanted to know if i could use one of thos.

What it takes to garage your car in a different jurisdiction depends entirely on the jurisdiction in question.

No, you can't use a K series ECU.

No need to prove residency ... They just ask where it's garaged on the title that's all as if u bought the car for someone who lives down there....
