Code P1259... Oil Pressure switch questions?
Hey,
I am new to owning a 98 LX 4 door. 4cyl w/ vtec It's throwing a code P1259. I've already refilled the oil, reset the ECU and ran tests on it 3 times and still get the CEL coming back on each time.
I am going to test the continuity across the Oil Pressure Switch on the Vtec valve.
I am researching replacements but every one of the green switches I find that looks like mine says that its for the V6. The other ones say they are "valve timing oil pressure switches, the clips are black, and 98 is not listed in their compatibility chart."
The one in my engine now looks like this: http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/199...re_switch.html
... with more oil and dirt on it... of course.
Will this replacement work my 4 cyl? It says its for VVT? I thought VVT was different than Vtec?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

First thing to look at is the oil pan being dented. A dented oil pan will reduce oil pressure and since vtec requires a lower threshold for oil pressure it will throw a code. If that checks out you will first check that the vtec/to head screen is clean and if so and it still throws a code, it's likely the vtec solenoid is bad.
It's also possible that the head itself is not being grounded enough. If you check for ohms, there should be less than 1 ohm from the head to the negative battery terminal post.
