Default EM1 AC blowing not-cold air, hissing behind dash

So a few days ago I noticed the AC in my EM1 started blowing warmer air than before and is now making a noticeable hissing sound behind the passenger-side dashboard area.

Did a quick google search and apparently it's evaporator related?

The hiss can be heard when the AC is running and for a few seconds after it is turned off.

Has anyone else had this issue? I haven't had time to look at it

What am I actually looking for? Is there a fix or should I head to the junkyard to get another evaporator?

That's what I'm thinking but is it a leak that can be fixed/patched or i gotta swap the whole evaporator?

What part of this diagram can go bad/malfunction? Do evap cores have a lifespan?

#10 is most likely the culprit, check the o-rings on the feed port before buying a whole new core first though.

^thank you!

I was wondering if there could be a o-ring that could be replaced or something. I guess I'll have to go under there and check things out

If it's low on freon sometime the expansion valve will make noise. I'd try getting the correct amount if freon in before replacing any parts.

Hmm interesting idea, maybe the valve is stuck?

^appreciate it

Read through those and I dont think they're directly similar but maybe I'm having issues with my expansion valve

The issue with just refilling with freon is that it's obviously not free to go to a shop and have it suck and recharge the freon in the system. Would be a waste to refill and have it instantly leak out

There's definitely a leak since freon doesnt just leak over a 48-hr period and it was just recharged last summer
