Default swap help !!! d16y8 to d16z6 !

so i have a 98 Honda civic ex, and my engine blew last week. since its my daily driver i went and bought a cheap working d16z6 swap with 147 miles on it. I've done my research and i know my car is obd2a and the z6 is obd1. if im not mistaking i'll need a obd2a to obd1 jumper harness and a obd1 ecu witch most likely will be a p28. can i just drop the full swap in and use the harness and the p28 ecu and call it a day ? im really new too this and some forms confuse me and say you could use your ob2 ecu ? i just want too drop the full swap in the car and not have too use parts from the y8. please help you guys. i'll appreciate it.

What are your emissions testing like? The OBD1 ECU won't pass the plug in test.

No emissions, get a jumper harness.

Emissions = Swap out the oil pump and intake manifold, tap a hole for knock sensor, and reuse all the Y8 stuff.

Been a while since I've done something like this, but I think your power steering bracket isn't going to line up properly and you'll have to do some mix/matching with Z6/Y8 power steering components. The timing covers aren't going to fit perfectly, you'll need to trim, AND you'll end up with two oil dipsticks.

yo dog i herd you like checking the oil so we added another dipstick so you can check the oil while you're checking the oil.

If you go the emissions route I'd just bypass the CKF

Cool trick, does that work on D17A1 engines?

Engine not going to plug into your car, I don't know why I initially said jumper harness.

You need to reuse all of your old stuff with the new engine otherwise the wire harness isn't going to plug in. The only thing off the new engine you'll keep is the distributor, but you'll have to repin it with the old OBDII plug.

I did the same swap. I had to get an OBD jumper harness, wire harness from a civic EX, injector adapter, and distributor adapter.
