is this swap easy? i know a guy who has a mint motor and tranney for 200$. computer also. my motor burns oil with 190k, and my synchros are gone.... very annoying. what do you think, should i buy a back up?

yeah man the swap is pretty straight foward. jump right in dont test the water. its the best way to learn

your going from obd1 to obd 2... you will need to find a conversion harness

swap the intake and exhaust manifolds, distributors and keep your existing ecu.

what flows better, i have to swap the turbo manifold. is that all? wil it all hook up to the tranney to?

The Y8 manifold flows better, its perfectly compatible too on an OBD1 engine as well, i was thinking Y7 when i said swap the intake manifolds. The tranny is exactly the same in terms of how it bolts up and such, its geared the same as the Z6 as well. Theres not much to it, swap the distributor as the Z6 one has a 2 plugs and the Y8 has a single plug. You will have 2 wires coming from around the oil pump, this is for the CKF sensor, simply leave it unplugged. Its really not a hard swap.

awesome, i have a MSD ignition with the external coil mod. but if the harness swaps over with the y8 intake mani, anything else? fuel pressure? ignition? security? i dont know much about hondas, just nissans.

The Y8 intake needs a Y fuel rail, not one from the Z6, etc. Also, the injectors have a clip that needs trimmed, but other than that, it's a straight swap. Buy the damn engine and swap it.

use the new motor valve cover oil pan....use the y8 intake manifold (if its 5 speed) with your stock z6 injectors..you will have to plug a vacuum line or two depending on what year the y8 is...you will have an extra sensor on the oil pump...just cut the wires, you dont need it...you can keep your z6 dizzy or re-wires the y8 one...you might also have to extend some wires. also have to add a hole in yer intake because the y8 has the intake air temp sensor in the intake tube and the z6 in in the manifold.

if you dont wanna mod anything just change valve cover to oil pan and leave everything else from the z6...no wiring needed that way.

Just throwing this out there, I have no first hand knowledge, but... I have read a few posts on here that talk about the y8 pump not being very favorable. I don't know for sure if you can keep the z6 oil pump or pan.

the z6 is slightly less power than the y8, you will need to get a OBD1 ECM and a harness for OBD2-OBD1 conversion, the z6 has a more restrictive intake manifold design and a more restrictive exhaust manifold design. BUT... the OBD1 can be tuned, it has a stronger oil pump, stronger rod bearings, can handle more boost ( more reliable to boost ) and a better head design

if the z6 can run more boost safely, i may want to stay how it is, just rebuild it soon.
