Icon2 Honda Aux Input / No Sound From Left Speakers

I have a 2007 Honda Civic EX with Navigation and am having an issue with the left front and rear speakers cutting out when listening to my Ipod Touch through the Aux jack. When I first encountered this problem, I assumed it was my cord, so I went and bought a new one. Actually I bought two, so I would have one for the house. Both are good brands, and different brands. Same problem happened. I then thought it was my Aux jack, because my Ipod works fine with headphones and the same problems occur with my kids' MP3 devices. I purchased a new Honda Aux jack from a certified Honda dealer on Amazon and installed it. I am still having the same problem. It makes no difference if I am hitting bumps or sitting still. Sometimes it works fine for 30 minutes, other times the problem is immediately. Please help!

Do you have the Premium Sound package?

No. I have Navigation, but I do not have the premium sound system in my vehicle.

Before I can conclude what the problem is does this issue happen when playing a CD or the radio?

Forgive me, I was wrong. I do have the Premium Sound System. Everything works fine when the CD player, Radio and XM is being used. Only when I connect an MP3 player through the Aux Input do I lose all speakers on the left side. I have used multiple different devices and have received the same result. Sometimes if I unplug the device and slowly put it back in the player, the left speakers will come back on for a couple of minutes... but then they go out again. It doesn't matter if I am driving or sitting still. I have replaced the input jack and traced the wires in the harness plug as far as I can and do not see any problems.

So we can rule out the radio is the issue.

I spoke to a friend of mine who works in the car audio industry and he thinks it's the cable the issue. He mentioned to me that sometime cheap cables don't make proper contact when connected inside the aux input.

Try getting a better quality cable and see if that works. I did some research on 8th gen civic also and others have had that issue also and it came down to the cable. I just wanted to see if it wasn't a common problem with the aux input.

I have a gold tipped Monster cable ($40) and a Belkin cable ($20). If those are not good enough, any recommendations?

try going to an electronics hardware store... I have one I go to buy some cable and stuff. It's usually cheap in price but quality is good!

If not try a different brand of AUX cable... it's so ridiculous that a cable can cause this much of a headache!

I will pick up a few different brands and try them. Thanks for the help and I will post if there are any changes. I agree that this is a headache... and one that appears to be very common in 8th gen. Civics.

Ok.... I picked up several different brands of AUX cable and the only change is that I now own enough cables that I can sell a few. My iPod did play for about 20 minutes with one of the cables, but the sound gradually faded in the left speakers until it went out all together. I tried a few other MP3 devices in my house (just for the hell of it, again) with no change. I have never encountered anything like this before and I can say with complete certainty that I am dumb-founded. I can assume that there may be an issue with the AUX wiring in my radio, because as previously mentioned all other functions of the radio work perfectly. Removing the factory NAV just to satisfy a hunch is not within reason just so I can play my iPod. I am doubtful, but hopeful that one day soon someone may have an answer to my issue as it seems to be one shared by many people with this vehicle.

After weeks of playing with the issue mentioned in this thread, I have discovered something interesting.... With the LCD screen in the open position, pressing on the radio in the upper right corner (by the CD eject button) makes the auxiliary jack work properly. When I let go, the sound fades again. I am wondering if this is the location on the back of the radio when the AUX wiring harness plugs into the radio and has maybe worked itself loose. Problem is, it looks like pulling the radio out of the dash is a very complicated process. If anyone could provide me with step-by-step detail on how to do this properly, I would be eternally grateful. If I am successful in fixing my issue, I know a lot of other threads for this same problem can be fixed.

I had a similar issue with my 06 Si. The Aux port goes bad with time. I replaced mine with a new unit and it worked fine again.

Replaced it....no static but same problem with left speaker. Think it might be the deck cause when I hit it the sound comes back

I'm having the same exact issues.

It's not the cord.

It's not the AUX input.

It's not the device.

With the head unit screen open, if I push on the right side, the audio comes through the left side. I actually opened it up and checked all the wiring, nothing was loose.

I'm guessing I just need to get a replacement OEM navi/headunit. Unless anyone else has any solutions here?

It's been 10+ years... what's the solution? As I am also having this issue after spending $50+ on new aux port, aux cables, Type C adapter, and all the speakers.

HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN SOLVED FOR SUCH A COMMON ISSUE?!
