1990 std hatch stuck in 3rd gear
Bought a 1990 std hatchback with supposedly a engine swap and different tranny.
I'm trying to figure out what I got engine/tranny wise. The vehicle is a std and canadian, vin is 2HG and the 8th letter in vin is 4 meaning standard. The motor says PGM-FI programmed fuel injection dual point. I'll try to post a pic.
My other issue is tranny locked 3rd gear in place while going slow and trying to shift. gear shift linkage was missing half the parts. I can jack the left front tire and let the clutch out and it spins in 3rd gear freely, but when you put it in a gear and let the clutch out it stalls. From what I read its looking like a used tranny to replace this one.
The engine code is D15B1 and it has a 5speed transmission. Can someone help me out on what motor and tranny I have.
Thanks

I'm wicked confused. You ask a question but answer it. I believe you have a 1990 Standard Hatchback which would have came with a D15B1 and a 4 speed transmission. Based on the intake alone, it looks like the factory motor.
Can you take a picture of the engine block code? Passenger side where the engine and transmission meet. Right where the engine block and engine head connect.

Sorry about the confusion, I just want to make sure I get the right tranny.
It has a 5speed tranny and here is the engine stamp.https://imageshack.com/i/ex49577ej

That should be the factory motor. Are you positive it is a 5 speed? It should be a 4-speed with a reverse gear if it is the stock transmission.
As for the transmission, if you are replacing it. You want a cable actuated clutch, D-series transmission. Any of them will bolt up I believe. I am not sure if you will run into axle issues though. Someone else will need to chime in.

Positive about 5speed, drove it on interstate before it messed up.
A shop by me has a used '90 crx tranny, don't know how many speed yet.
Thanks for the help!

I got the tranny out, I found a 5speed crx 1990 tranny to replace.
From what I seen on the web, this crx tranny should bolt right up.
Can somebody confirm this?
Thanks
