Default Front Axle Replacemnt

I have a 91 honda CrX DX so just a base model. My boots on my front axle need to be replaced so I'm just gonna buy the entire thing. My question is a boot a boot is a boot? Should I steer clear of any brands in particular or will an average left and right axle do the trick? I'm not racing or going to the strip either just a day to day car with sentimental value.

Yup. The $50 lifetime axles from autozone work the best, aside from OEM. But they are much cheaper and like I said, lifetime replacement. Just say they click and take em back whenever you want.

This.

Do NOT go to advanced auto. They only honor warranty through the store you bought the part from... not sure about the other parts stores (O'Reillys, napa, etc). Autozone honors your warranty at ANY store, nationwide. Also, get their rewards card.

Yup. A point every $20 spent. And every 10 points (iirc) is a free $20 off your next purchase. Adds up when you buy oil there.

generic axles from parts stores (like autozone, etc) are really, really cheap. thats fine, no surprises. they will "work". but be aware you will probably need to remove the hub ring to make the axle sit without binding, since they use the same CV joint as integras, which is NOT the same. they wont even ask for core because they are so cheap they can make them from scratch.

and they will crap out on you much much sooner than your original ones did.

but thats all just expected and youll learn to replace them easy enough.

unfortunately there just isnt many other alternatives to a "quality" axle other than a honda reman. the only other suggestion i have is buying a raxle rebuild axle. they do things right and only start with original honda shafts and put new quality joints on. they arent cheap but you get what you pay for with great service.

and since this is your first time replacing the axle, youll likely have issue popping off ball joints. there are several helpful threads in the FAQ that you should read ahead of time so that you are prepared.
