HI fellas, I've been working for quite sometime now trying to get a stable idle on my built/sleeved B18C with BC Spec III's... I've replaced the IACV, bled the coolant multiple times, checked TPS etc. Verified there are no vacumn leaks at all. Basically everything on the motor is new.
Motor is a Darton sleeved B18C, bored to 84mm with 11.8:1 pistons. Head is a 2000 ITR with full crower valve train and topped off with Buddy Club Spec III's. From what I can tell these are very mild cams so idle shouldn't really be an issue but I can't get this thing to idle good at all! I have stock injectors in it for now to rule that out of the problem and still no luck!
It either surges really bad or just idles down so low it shuts off.
Is there any tricks to getting these cams to idle good? You guys care to share any tuning notes or things that you've done to get it idling good??
I currently have a Phearable base map in it with some tweaking by me, street tuning using my wideband.

Oh, and please don't yell at me for using Crome, I'd like to get NEPTUNE soon but funds are low right now and I'm working with what I got!
Oh, I have base fuel pressure set per the ITR manual- 47-54

it's not your cams causing the problem. check your base ignition and cam angle, then check your closed throttle voltage. I'm guessing you have an aftermarket throttle body, which is most likely the cause of your bad idle.

Thanks John. Its actually an OEM ITR throttle body, TPS is right at 1volt.
With some timing tweaking in the first few cells of the MAP its actually idling now, not perfect but its at least idling. How do I check cam angle?

what ignition timing are you running at idle? did you try adding a few degrees ?

Really... its an oem TB and I didn't touch the tps.
Timing is at 16-17* but now I'm wondering if my oem balancer hasn't slipped and caused the timing marks to move... I've went up and down a few degrees just trying things and it didn't really seem to help. However I did notice a VERY stable idle when I have the jumper in the timing is locked... Makes me really think timing is the issue here.
